Each month, Overtime MMA will feature a member of the month, which is sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings in Plainfield, IL. The member of the month will receive a $20 food certificate to dine at BWW.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Member of the Month for February 2010 is Sam Ferguson.
Sam is a 21 year old Criminal Justice major at Aurora University. He wrestled in High School in Champaign, IL, but did not continue in college since Aurora University doesn't have a wrestling team.
Instead, Sam found his way to Overtime MMA, and has been training and competing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Boxing. Sam has been quite successful in his last two competitions, which include earning a gold medal in the white belt division of the C3 Grapplerfest in November, and winning his amateur boxing debut by decision over
Jake Michaliska at Joe's Bar on Weed Street
on February 25th.
Sam will compete next at the Chicago Golden Gloves boxing tournament, which starts on March 11th. He also plans on competing at the NAGA Chicago Grappling Tournament on April 24th.
Ferguson cites that the classes he enjoys most at Overtime are Mark Vujovic's grappling class and Gustavo Pique's boxing. "I enjoy training at Overtime since they have a good plan for developing me as a fighter. I enjoy just coming and being able to stay at one place for all of my workouts."
