Each month, Overtime MMA will feature a member of the month, which is sponsored by Buffalo Wild Wings in Plainfield , IL . The member of the month will receive a $20 food certificate to dine at BWW.
The Buffalo Wild Wings Member of the Month for April 2010 is Justin Holzworth.
Justin is originally from Columbus, Ohio, and moved to the Chicago area in the spring of 2006. He joined Overtime MMA in March of 2009 and has focused most of his training on developing his no-gi grappling skills.
Justin entered his first grappling tournament at NAGA Chicago on Apri 24th , and medaled in 2 different divisions. He earned a gold medal in the Master's Welterweight Beginner's No-Gi division (over 30 years of age), and a bronze in the Adult Men's Welterweight Beginner's No-Gi division (open to anyone over 18 years of age). In the Adult division, Justin forfeited his semifinals match to Overtime MMA teammate Joe Fialco so that Joe could compete in the gold medal finals. In this act, Justin embodied the true meaning of being a team player, making him the perfect candidate for April's Member of the Month.
“I had a great experience competing at NAGA Chicago last weekend,” said Justin. “Training with Overtime's stellar grappling coaches like Mark Vujovic, Mike Corey, and Mark Turner well prepared me for competition. We have a great group of guys to train with at Overtime, and sparring with my training partners in practice was great preparation for my matches at NAGA.”
